Terms of Service
Indirect Number
https://indirectnumber.com
Effective date: August 28, 2026
These Terms of Service (the "Terms") are a contract between you and WINJEXA LLC ("Indirect Number," "we," "us," or "our"), doing business as Indirect Number. They govern use of the Indirect Number website, apps, dedicated US long-codes, and related services at https://indirectnumber.com (the "Service").
By creating an account, verifying a phone number, paying, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy at https://indirectnumber.com/privacy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Privacy: https://indirectnumber.com/privacy
These Terms: https://indirectnumber.com/terms
Support: support@indirectnumber.com
1. The Service
Indirect Number is a US SMS relay for high-conflict co-parenting and similar adult-to-adult situations where one party needs a documented line and the other party should not have to install an app.
In plain terms, the Service does this:
- You (the customer) create an account and verify your own mobile number with OTP.
- You register each protected sender (the other adult number) you want a line with.
- We assign a dedicated US long-code per relationship. The protected sender texts that number from an ordinary phone. They never have to install Indirect Number.
- We store originals encrypted at rest, timestamped, and unmodified.
- AI may summarize inbound text, extract logistics, and reorder how loudly we notify you. High-risk content — emergency, medical, child safety, threats, and deadlines — is never suppressed. We still attempt delivery of that content even if a summary exists. We can still mis-classify, and carriers can still fail.
- The first message we send to a protected sender on that long-code includes a notice that this is a documented Indirect Number line, that messages are preserved, that they may be AI-summarized, that originals are kept, that message and data rates may apply, and that they may reply HELP or STOP.
- Outbound SMS from you to that sender goes out only after you explicitly approve it. AI may suggest calmer wording. Suggestion is not a send.
- Unknown senders (numbers you did not register) are quarantined. We do not auto-reply to unknown senders, except for required keyword replies such as HELP and STOP.
- If the sender texts STOP, we stop outbound texts to them on that relationship, we notify you, and we may still receive and archive inbound texts they send to the long-code.
The Service is a paid subscription, currently about $24.99 per month, unless we post a different price at signup.
We may change features as we build, but we will not quietly turn this product into a marketing list, a disappearing-message app, or a law firm.
2. Who may use it
You must be at least 18 and able to form a contract in the United States. The Service is not for children. It is for adults coordinating about children.
You must use a mobile number you control for OTP. You may only register a protected sender number if you have a legitimate, lawful reason to communicate with that person on a documented line (for example, you co-parent with them, a court expects you to exchange parenting logistics, or they already text you about the child). You may not register strangers to surprise-text them through a mask.
We currently support US numbers and US SMS. We do not promise delivery to every carrier, or to numbers outside that scope.
3. Your account
You are responsible for:
- Accurate registration information.
- Keeping your password, OTP-verified phone, and devices under your control.
- Every action taken on the account, including every outbound SMS you approve.
- Court orders, protective orders, parenting plans, and communication clauses that apply to you. If a court told you to use a specific platform, to not contact someone, or to preserve or not preserve communications, you have to follow that order. Indirect Number does not read your docket.
Tell us promptly at support@indirectnumber.com if you lose control of the account or the dedicated long-code.
We may refuse, suspend, or reclaim a long-code if it is reported as spam, associated with abuse, required by a carrier, or needed to protect the Service. If a number is burned, we may assign a replacement dedicated long-code for that relationship. We cannot force the other party to save the new number.
4. We are not a law firm, a court, or your witness
Indirect Number is not a law firm, is not your attorney, and does not give legal advice. Nothing on the website, in the app, in a summary, or in these Terms is legal advice about custody, restraining orders, recording statutes, or evidence.
We do not market the archive as court-admissible evidence. We preserve originals as if a lawyer may later ask for them. That is a care standard, not a result.
We do not promise that:
- a judge, mediator, or agency will admit, believe, or even look at the archive;
- timestamps will match another clock the court prefers;
- AI summaries will be accurate or usable as evidence (rely on originals);
- using Indirect Number satisfies an order to use OurFamilyWizard, TalkingParents, BestInterest, email-only, or any other specified channel;
- the first-message notice meets every state recording, wiretap, or two-party consent rule;
- a protective order is not being violated by a text you approve.
One-party vs. notice-to-sender rules in the US are not uniform. We notify the protected sender on the first outbound we send them. You remain responsible for whether operating a documented line is lawful in your situation.
If you need legal advice, hire a lawyer licensed in your state.
5. SMS program (STOP, HELP, rates, 10DLC)
Traffic on dedicated long-codes is application-to-person (A2P) SMS. US carriers require 10DLC brand and campaign registration. We register the campaign honestly as a documented relay. Carriers, Twilio (or our successor SMS provider), and The Campaign Registry can filter, delay, or refuse messages even when we send them.
Message frequency varies. It tracks how often you and the protected sender actually text. This is not a coupon club.
Message and data rates may apply. Your wireless plan and the sender wireless plan bill their own SMS charges. Our subscription is in addition to that.
5.1 First-message notice
The first SMS we send to a protected sender on a relationship long-code will be in substance:
This is Indirect Number, a documented communication line set up by [First Name] for messages between you and them. Messages sent here are preserved and may be summarized by AI before delivery; originals are kept. Msg&data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.
We may adjust wording if a carrier or 10DLC reviewer requires it, so long as those facts remain true.
5.2 HELP
The protected sender (and anyone who texts HELP to the long-code) can reply HELP. We reply with how to get support, including support@indirectnumber.com and https://indirectnumber.com, plus that message and data rates may apply and that STOP opts out of outbound texts.
You can also email support@indirectnumber.com from the customer side.
5.3 STOP (half-open)
If a protected sender replies STOP, END, QUIT, CANCEL, or UNSUBSCRIBE (and other required opt-out keywords):
- We stop outbound SMS from Indirect Number to that number for that relationship.
- We notify you, the customer, that they opted out.
- We may still receive and archive inbound messages they send to the long-code. STOP is not a pledge that their later texts vanish. It is a pledge that we will not text them.
- STOP does not delete the archive, cancel your paid account, or unregister the relationship.
- We do not treat STOP as permission to keep marketing them. We do not market to them.
We do not auto-resume outbound because the sender later texts START. If you want to send them SMS again after a STOP, you must explicitly re-enable outbound for that relationship in your account, and we will send a fresh notice before or with the next outbound. Until then, outbound stays off.
5.4 Unknown senders
If a number you did not register texts the dedicated long-code, we quarantine the message and do not auto-reply, other than HELP/STOP keyword handling required for that long-code. You decide whether to ignore, register, or otherwise handle that number. Do not use quarantine as a way to run an unregistered messaging blast.
5.5 Customer OTP
OTP texts to your verified number exist to prove you control that number. They are account security, not a conversation with the protected sender.
6. AI, summaries, and high-risk
You instruct us to run automated processing on message content, as described in the Privacy Policy, including an LLM provider.
You agree that:
- Summaries and logistics extractions can be wrong, incomplete, or tone-deaf. The original is the record.
- Risk classification can miss a real emergency or over-flag a routine text. We design the product so high-risk is not suppressed when we catch it. We do not warrant that we will always catch it.
- Suggested calmer wording can still be a bad idea in your case. You approve the send.
- AI output is not a medical, legal, or safety professional.
If a message is about an emergency, call 911 (or the local emergency number). Do not wait on Indirect Number, a summary, or a push notification.
7. Acceptable use
You may use the Service only for lawful, documented communication with people you have a right to contact.
You agree not to, and not to allow others to:
- Harass, stalk, threaten, or abuse someone through Indirect Number. The product exists because high-conflict co-parenting is ugly; it does not exist so you can hide behind a long-code to pile on. We may suspend a relationship or an account if we reasonably believe the long-code is being used as a harassment tool.
- Contact someone a court or law forbids you to contact. A dedicated number is not a loophole in a protective order.
- Use the Service to make evidence disappear. You may not use Indirect Number to evade a preservation duty, to run a parallel unlogged channel while pretending no record exists, to strip or falsify originals, or to delete an archive in order to obstruct a proceeding. Originals on our side are not modified; do not ask us to rewrite history.
- Register numbers you have no legitimate relationship with, scrape numbers, or use the long-code as a public inbound dump.
- Interfere with STOP/HELP, spoof opt-in, or send outbound after we have recorded a STOP unless the sender is lawfully re-enabled as described in Section 5.3.
- Send spam, marketing, or mass outreach on a relationship long-code. This campaign is a two-party documented line, not a blast list.
- Send unlawful content, including child sexual abuse material, or content that facilitates a crime.
- Probe, reverse engineer, or overload the Service, or bypass billing.
- Resell, sublicense, or turn the long-code into someone else's product without our written consent.
- Imply we are a court, a police agency, or your lawyer, or that a message is "court certified."
We can investigate, quarantine, refuse to send, suspend, or terminate when we reasonably believe this section was violated. We can also keep records needed to explain that decision.
8. Your content and the archive
As between you and us, you retain whatever rights you already have in the messages you write. The protected sender retains whatever rights they already have in the messages they write.
You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, encrypt, transmit, copy, process (including AI processing described in the Privacy Policy), display to you, and back up message content and account data only to operate, secure, improve the reliability of, and provide the Service, and to comply with law.
We may refuse or drop a send that a carrier rejects. A carrier rejection is not us editing your original; it is a delivery failure.
If you export the archive and give it to someone else, that copy is yours to handle. We are not responsible for what you do with an export.
9. Fees
- The Service is a paid subscription, currently about $24.99 per month, billed in advance through Stripe, unless a different price is shown at checkout.
- Taxes may apply.
- Fees are generally non-refundable, except where US law requires a refund or we decide in writing to refund.
- If a charge fails, we may suspend outbound sending and, after notice, close the account.
- We may change the price for a later renewal period. We will post the new price and, where required, give notice in advance. If you do not agree, cancel before the renewal.
A paid month does not guarantee any volume of SMS, any legal outcome, or any carrier cooperation.
10. Third-party services
The Service depends on people we do not control:
- Twilio (or a successor) for numbers and SMS.
- Stripe for payment.
- Cloud hosting for the application and encrypted store.
- An LLM provider for summaries, extraction, classification, and optional wording suggestions.
- Wireless carriers for actual delivery to phones.
Their outages, filters, acceptable-use rules, and 10DLC decisions are not breaches we can fully cure. Your use of Stripe and of SMS on a handset is also subject to those providers' terms.
11. Intellectual property
Indirect Number, the website, the apps, our trademarks, and our documentation are owned by WINJEXA LLC or its licensors. These Terms do not sell you that IP. You may not copy the product, scrape the site, or use our name to imply a partnership or a court endorsement.
12. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
WITHOUT LIMITING THAT, WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT:
- SMS will be delivered, timely, in order, or at all;
- a high-risk message will be classified as high-risk, or that a loud notification will reach you if a carrier, OS, or device fails;
- AI summaries, logistics, or suggested wording will be correct;
- the archive will be admitted in court or will satisfy a statute or order;
- a dedicated long-code will stay with you forever or will display a particular caller ID;
- the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Some states do not allow disclaimer of certain implied warranties. In those states, the disclaimer applies to the fullest extent allowed.
13. Limitation of liability (read this)
Running parenting logistics over SMS is unreliable even on a good day. Carriers drop messages. Phones are off. People lie. Models misread tone.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
A. No indirect damages. We are not liable for lost profits, lost data (except our failure to apply the encryption and unmodified-original practices we describe, to the extent that failure is our fault), lost custody outcomes, emotional distress, reputational harm, substitute parenting-app costs, or indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages.
B. SMS and classification. We are not liable for:
- delayed, duplicated, reordered, or failed SMS, including a message that never reaches you or the protected sender because of a carrier, 10DLC filter, handset, or our SMS provider;
- a classification mistake, including a high-risk message we failed to mark loud, or a routine message we marked loud;
- a high-risk message we attempted to deliver and did not suppress, but that still did not reach you;
- the protected sender refusal to save the dedicated number, their STOP, or their decision to text your personal phone instead;
- your decision to approve or not approve an outbound draft.
C. Cap. Our total liability for all claims arising out of the Service or these Terms is limited to the greater of (i) the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve (12) months before the claim or (ii) one hundred US dollars (US $100).
D. Essential purpose. These limits apply whether the theory is contract, tort, statute, or otherwise, even if a remedy fails of its essential purpose, and even if we were told the harm was possible.
These limits do not apply to liability that US law does not allow us to limit, including (where such law applies) our fraud, or damages from our gross negligence or willful misconduct, or your statutory rights as a consumer that cannot be waived.
14. Indemnity
You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless WINJEXA LLC and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from claims, damages, and reasonable legal fees arising out of: (a) your messages and the messages you approve; (b) your violation of these Terms or of law, including a protective order or a communication clause in a parenting plan; (c) a dispute between you and a protected sender or any other third party; (d) your use of an export; or (e) your registration of a number you did not have a lawful basis to contact.
15. Termination
You may stop using the Service and close the account by contacting support@indirectnumber.com or using any in-product cancel control we provide. Canceling stops future subscription charges according to Stripe billing cycle. It does not automatically refund the current period.
We may suspend or terminate the Service, a relationship, or a long-code immediately if: you breach these Terms; a carrier, Twilio, or TCR requires it; we reasonably believe continued operation is unlawful or unsafe; we stop offering the product; or you do not pay.
After termination:
- outbound SMS stops;
- we handle remaining personal information as described in the Privacy Policy (generally deletion or de-identification of the message archive within 90 days, unless a legal hold or similar exception applies);
- STOP records may be kept so we do not text an opted-out number;
- Sections that should survive (including 4, 7-14, 16-18) survive.
We may refuse to send a farewell blast to a protected sender. If you need them to have a new number, you have to tell them.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except that US federal law governs where it applies (including SMS and TCPA issues to the extent they are federal).
The state and federal courts located in Texas have exclusive jurisdiction, and you and we consent to personal jurisdiction there, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect IP or the archive integrity.
If a court finds a section unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
17. Changes to the Terms
We may update these Terms by posting a new version at https://indirectnumber.com/terms and updating the effective date. Material changes will be announced by email to the account or by an in-product notice. Continued use after the effective date is acceptance. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and close the account.
18. Miscellaneous
- Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement about the Service. They replace prior discussions about the same subject.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce a section once, we can still enforce it later.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign them to a successor of the Indirect Number business.
- No third-party beneficiaries, except the indemnified people in Section 14.
- Force majeure. We are not responsible for failures caused by events we cannot reasonably control, including carrier outages, 10DLC shutdowns, internet failures, and natural disasters.
- Notices. We may notice you via the account, the verified email or phone, or the website. You notice us at support@indirectnumber.com.
- US contract. The parties are contracting in English. Headings are for reading, not for loopholes.
